Viscosupplementation with Hyaluronic Acid in Recife
Viscosupplementation with hyaluronic acid for treatment of knee osteoarthritis in Recife. Outpatient procedure guided by ultrasound.
What is Viscosupplementation?
Viscosupplementation is the intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in synovial fluid that acts as a lubricant and shock absorber for the joint.
Hyaluronic acid restores the viscoelastic properties of synovial fluid, reducing friction, inflammation, and pain in osteoarthritis.
In osteoarthritis, there is a progressive reduction in the concentration and molecular weight of hyaluronic acid in the synovial fluid, leading to loss of protective properties and increased joint friction. Viscosupplementation replenishes this substance, restoring joint function.
How Does the Procedure Work?
