Chronic Pain Treatment in Recife - Pain Medicine
Multidisciplinary treatment for chronic pain in Recife with physicians specialized in pain medicine. Evidence-based approach.
What is Chronic Pain?
Chronic pain is defined by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) as pain that persists for more than 3 months, beyond the normal tissue healing time. It affects about 30% of the Brazilian population and is one of the main causes of functional disability and work absence.
Unlike acute pain, which is a warning sign from the body, chronic pain becomes a disease in itself, involving neurological, inflammatory, psychological and social changes that perpetuate suffering.
Impact: Chronic pain reduces quality of life, causes depression and anxiety in 50-70% of cases, limits physical, social and professional activities, and generates high economic cost with treatments and absences.
